A Case Study: The Prepped Palate

Over two years ago, I had the pleasure of working with Jenn Nestler of The Prepped Palate to redesign her logo and brand identity. Let’s check-in on Jenn to see how her branding aligns with her current business.

Why did you decide to rebrand? Was there a specific problem you were facing?

I was at the very beginning of starting my company, and I was struggling to create cohesive branding on my own. I had a vision in mind but lacked the skills to make it come to life.

Before reaching out to me, was there anything you did to try to solve the problem? What did the frustration feel like as you tried to solve the problem?

I had a friend draw a logo for me, and it was cute, but I knew it wasn't the final product I was looking for. I also realized as I started building my website that I needed so many more elements to feel like I had a 'brand' and not just a company. Just having a logo and some colors wasn't enough!

Why did you decide to work with DCC? What stood out to you about us?
I loved DCC's vibrant and feminine style, and immediately felt like it aligned with what I wanted my brand to 'feel' like. I also loved that DCC's had worked with other health, wellness, & food brands, which gave me confidence that she could create something amazing for my brand.

Take us to a moment when you saw the impact your branding had.
One of the best things that Rebecca designed for me was a round sticker that I now use on all of my meal prep dishes. This means that anytime one of my clients is eating one of my meals, they are interacting with my logo/brand. A lot of clients bring these dishes to work and I have gotten so many new clients from word-of-mouth and them seeing my branded dishes!

Does your rebrand still feel aligned with your business today?

Yes it truly does. I just did a photoshoot recently to get new headshots for my socials and website. I wore my branded apron, and used oranges & citrus as my props, which is perfectly aligned with the brand marks that DCC created a couple years ago.

What wins have you experienced since your rebrand?
I have recently hired my first contracted employee and am renting a commercial kitchen space! I feel confident enough in my brand/branding, that I'm more excited than nervous for this new growth phase.

What's one piece of advice you'd give to other small business owners?
Take things slow. There have been so many times over the last couple years where I felt 'behind' or like I should be further along in my business journey, but now that I'm actually making some big moves/changes, I am SO glad that I took my time. I waited until I truly felt ready and confident to take the next step. Baby steps are just as important as the big changes!
